I have invented a matching game for you! Read the quotes below and match them with one of the options from the word bank! 

REMEMBER: options from the word bank may be used more than once, and not every option will be used.

"I don't like my water bottles to pee. Or poop."

Cherries.

What? But, milk and cheese are both dairies!

"It's because milk is unhappy."

Milk is a very happy food! Unless they take away all of its fat. Then it gets depressed.

"Can I renew these cds?"

No. I'm sorry, but you've already renewed them one time, so they'll have to go back on the shelf.

"When can I check them out again?"

After they've been shelved. It may take a couple of days.

"Well, so, I can't have them now?"

No.

"Can you go shelve them right now so that I can have them now?"

No.

"Why can't I have them now. It doesn't make sense."

Well, since these are public library materials, we want to give other people in the community a chance to enjoy them.

"Can I buy them?"

No.

"Should we go shelve?'

NO. There are so many kids in there right now.

"How many kids?"

So many.

"I think I might shelve. I haven't shelved yet today."

"The hallway?"

*gets up, shows patron the hallway* Third door on the right. 

*points at first door* "This one?"

No, the third door.

*points at second door (labeled "Men")* "This one?"

No, the next one.

*points at third door, (labeled "Women")* "This one?"

Yes.

*tries key* "The key don't work."

*goes to door, turns key, unlocks door* Here you go. Just leave the key in the door.

"Leave the key in the door? And I'll be able to get out?"

Yes, ma'am.

"Do you remember whether Starbucks has a good chai?"

No. I almost never get chai.

"Do you remember if I've ever had a chai there?"

Ok, so, technically, I did this for work, but I've decided that it counts.


I am swamped. You must take what you get.


So, I created a giant board game in which the teens are the pieces and the players.


Basically, it's Cranium, but I changed the art so that
a) the teens wouldn't know what it was until I told them
and
b) I could take pictures and post them places without worrying about copyright infringement and lawsuits and other such things.


I used 25 pieces of poster board and blue painter's tape because it shouldn't leave much of a sticky residue. It took me about an hour and a half to tape the lines.


So, these are the board squares:

This is the start/home square. It comes up periodically throughout the game; when you land on this, you get to choose which category to attempt. The exception: when you land on the last of these squares, everyone else playing the game chooses your category for you.

This is the facts/trivia square.
In what country were fortune cookies invented?

This is the art square.
Draw a pelican. With your eyes closed. In a minute or less.

This is the words/language square.
As a team, you must spell the word "sudoku" backwards.

This is the performance square. 
You must act out and get your team to guess the following animal with no speaking or pointing at other objects: humpback whale.

I had 25 teens play this yesterday, and I'm hoping for the same numbers today. After that I will pull the tape up. However, I'm going to keep the squares in case we ever want to play again.
